The CCF Story

 

In the early 1980s, Peter Tan-Chi began an evangelistic home Bible study in Brookside Subdivision, Cainta. Only three couples attended that first Bible study in the home of Ike and Del Punsalang.But as they began to invite their friends, the Bible study grew and moved to San Juan to the garage of Loreto Carbonel.

 

A core group of 40 people – businessmen, professionals, and their families – emerged from these Bible studies. In 1984, they met at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) for their first Christ’s Commission Fellowship Sunday worship service.

 

Since then, CCF’s continuous growth has caused its worship services to move from place to place. From AIM, services moved to Greenbelt then to the Conference Room of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and then to the PICC Plenary Hall. Worshippers then split in order to attend at two different venues: one in Sucat, and one at the Valle Verde Country Club. Eventually in 1997, CCF settled at St. Francis Square in Ortigas Center. Last May 2013 marked the inauguration of the new CCF Center at Fontera Verde, Ortigas.

 

Today by God’s grace, CCF is a thriving church of approximately 30+ outreaches here in the Philippines and abroad. It is a unique fellowship composed and led by lay men and women, all of whom still share God’s love and the Gospel in the style of the first century Christians: in small groups, in their homes, communities, and workplaces. It is an indigenous church which operates without foreign affiliation or financial assistance.

 

The vision that the Lord gave to the leaders of CCF is to establish a church patterned after that of the New Testament. CCF places emphasis on the active participation and ministry of lay people committed to obeying Christ’s command as given in Matthew 28:19-20:

 

‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you….

 

’This command is often dubbed the Great Commission; hence, the church is named Christ’s Commission Fellowship. According to Scripture, all Christians are called by the Lord to be ministers, to make committed followers of Jesus Christ.
